On-Site Support

On-Site Support

We will work in the plant alongside your staff to identify problems and solutions.

Jar Tests are typically performed across a 24-hour period (unlike most companies that don’t stick around to see all types of wastewater)
maximizing opportunities to observe the full spectrum of
influent characteristics.

  • Additional testing may be necessary if influent conditions vary significantly from day-to-day

Short-Term Trials are used to validate full-scale treatment efficacy of new chemistry.

• System Upset: we have the knowledge in-house (Class A certified operators; experience in the design, upgrade and operation of industrial treatment facilities) as well as close engineering relationships to help return the treatment plant to normal operation quickly and economically.

• Hardware/Field Devices: when a failure occurs, we can usually help identify the problem, determine the root cause, source replacement hardware and integrate new hardware into an existing system. In cases where we lack tools or expertise, we can recommend appropriate support partners.

Assist with identifying and isolating costly waste streams to stabilize treatment and/or preventing a costly WWTP upgrade

Example: Providing technology that identifies and diverts influent streams that negatively impact the WWTP (example Floc Tube we designed to replace an oversized unit that was causing poor treatment due to low mix energy)

We can provide evaluation services and hazard mitigation strategies

Remote Monitoring and Support

Remote Monitoring and Support

1. Our automation systems always reside on a private network that is physically isolated from the facility network. Any networked device is a potential security risk, and this segregation is enforced to protect our network and yours.

2. Our PLC programs interface with external devices (such as the SCADA server or networked field devices) using “guest” memory and a Publish/Subscribe communications model to keep native memory secure from unwanted access.

America is a big place and with customers scattered across thousands of miles, timely response to customer support requests can be challenging. Our “Remote Support” plans allow us to reduce most support response times from hours or days to minutes. By utilizing secure VPN-over-cellular access, our support staff can be looking at the same data as your operator within minutes of receiving a support request.
In most cases, Remote Support allows us to provide the assistance and services our customers require without needing to charge them for windshield time, lodging, meals, mileage, etc.

Today’s networked environment requires continual maintenance of deployed systems. We see security patches and software updates for server operating systems, SCADA platforms, database systems and even field devices such as PLCs released upwards of a dozen times per year. Simply ignoring the updates is a high-risk strategy in today’s threat environment. Our deployed systems are kept up to date to minimize the risks of operating in an online world.
We also run regular backups of databases and other customer-specific data to storage that is dedicated for that purpose, minimizing the risks of data loss due to hardware failure. Backups to cloud-based storage is a fee-based option.

It is generally possible for certain alarms and/or reports to be sent to emailed to operators or supervisors. Depending on the site configuration and the
scope/format of the data requested, additional licensing and bandwidth fees may be required.

A tremendous advantage of our PLC/SCADA-based approach to automation is that we are continually developing new features for our automation solutions that are deployed as part of our regular maintenance processes.

Pilot Control System for in-plant Trials

Pilot Control System for in-plant Trials

Our Pilot Control System, with integrated touch-screen PC HMI and Ignition/SQL servers, allows us to deploy at a new customer site rapidly, effectively. We typically use it to collect data for 1 – 2 weeks before going “live” with automated control. This provides us with the best opportunity for success and gives you a clear before-and-after view of system operation. We leverage Inductive Automation’s “Ignition” platform to provide our control systems with a world-class HMI/SCADA foundation which provides features and pricing that are unmatched in the industry.

For more information about Ignition, please visit inductiveautomation.com.

When our control system is installed, we insure that all pre-existing manual control options remain in place, allowing operators to run the plant in the event the control system is unavailable for any reason.

An integrated cellular modem/router allows us to provide rapid “on-site” support of plant operations, regardless of your/our physical location

Operator Training

Our Class-A licensed operators and certified technicians can provide training in a variety of areas that will make your operators more effective:

Operator Training

Jar Testing: this is the primary tool we use to identify chemistry dosing rates and evaluate treatment effectiveness. Plant operators who have learned this skill are able to respond properly to unexpected conditions.

Laboratory Testing/Data Analysis: understanding the status of key parameters in near-real-time can provide operators with the necessary information to pro-actively adjust treatment to prevent or minimize upset conditions.

Hardware/Field Devices: operators can react effectively to equipment problems when they understand how individual components work and function within a system.

Technical Support: being able to correctly identify and clearly communicate with appropriate technical support resources for a given problem will usually lead to the correct solution, faster.

Engineering Support

Upgrade Planning/Support: we can provide automated data collection, on-site Pilot/Trial support, proposal evaluation assistance, engineering contacts and more.

Engineering Support

We partner with some of the most respected wastewater engineering firms in the United States

Watermark as boots-on-ground and running trials/studies reduces costs

Our engineering partners can assist with anything from a minor process change to a turn-key plant design.

We are experienced in development and deployment of on-site pilot studies of new and existing technologies

When P.E. Certification is necessary, we are able to provide that service.
